So I really like the idea of these forums after seeing Waffle's video. So I really love the idea for this forums. A couple of small complaints about the forum in its pre alpha stage I guess. One, usernames are always lowercase. And two, there’s a very low number of times you can undo in the text editor. One thing that I noticed already that is a good thing is you can embed html, so that’s cool for more control and being able to post html 5 games if you wanted too. Or anything else actually. I can think of two features that I think would help the forum out is a shout box, or a chat. And a game maker syntax. You guys should also add in 3d categories too, maybe just a 3d techniques and 3d examples as a sub cat. That’s something that’s been repeatedly asked for on the GMC. I’m wondering on how stick are the rules going to be. First are there rules from proboards.com relating to piracy that you would have to obey? I have a few reasons for asking. The hacking scene for iPhone, Android, Wii, Xbox, etc. Then you also have emulators that I love talking about, which I guess you wouldn’t be able to share rom sites. Legacy game maker versions and cracks. Game Maker exploits like v1.2 you could easily test games on iOS devices, and Game Maker decompilers. I really tried thinking on what things that I’m into but can’t really discuss in the GMC forums and of course just things that would make these forums stand out from them too, since probably primarily going to be Game Maker users. Which another neat thing is you can more freely discuss other engines without a mod potentially removing or locking your post. Anyway, thanks for reading Edit: I was able to fix my username, not sure if I just forgot caps when signing up or not.

So we'll work on a 3D sub-forum sometime today, (Dragonite will love that one, can't believe we didn't think of it already). So in relation to piracy and the such, I don't believe that emulators, roms, and homebrew are things we are going to count as piracy, as I believe both Dragonite and I support these things. Our terms for piracy apply more to situational instances, i.e. if someone were to create a thread titled: How to get GM: Pro for free!or any other software for that matter. We really don't want to get shut down because a software developer sees that our forum is supporting the illegal downloading of their product. But other than that, no I don't believe that modding, emulators, etc. will be within our definition of "piracy". We'll work on a shoutbox type of thing in a while, we just want to get the aesthetics for the main site down first. And possibly adding the GML syntax to the code editor, however that will be a whole other process on it's own

One, usernames are always lowercase. And two, there’s a very low number of times you can undo in the text editor. Yeah, that's kind of irritating; for now, there should be an option in your User Settings that lets you change the capitalization of your display name; I'll go back into the forum settings later today and see if there's a way to turn that on by default, too. I can think of two features that I think would help the forum out is a shout box, or a chat. And a game maker syntax. You guys should also add in 3d categories too, maybe just a 3d techniques and 3d examples as a sub cat. That’s something that’s been repeatedly asked for on the GMC. A chatbox would be a good idea; they're pretty popular forum features, too, so I'm hoping it shouldn't be too much trouble to add. If not we could just annex an IRC channel or something. Also, speaking as someone who's worked almost exclusively in 3D for the last two years, that does sound fun. :D The hacking scene for iPhone, Android, Wii, Xbox, etc. Then you also have emulators that I love talking about, which I guess you wouldn’t be able to share rom sites. Legacy game maker versions and cracks. Game Maker exploits like v1.2 you could easily test games on iOS devices, and Game Maker decompilers. Emulators are perfectly legal; even the ROMs are okay if you obtained them on your own. The problem comes in when people try to ask other people for ROMs, or distribute ROMs to other people. So, asking how to rip the ROM from a GBA cartridge would be okay, but asking if someone else could give it to you wouldn't. Homebrew's definitely not a problem and hacking is a bit of a gray area but should be okay (if you want I guess you can use the euphemism "unofficial mod" instead) as long as you distribute, say, an .ips patch for your Pokémon hack instead of a pre-patched .gba ROM. I really tried thinking on what things that I’m into but can’t really discuss in the GMC forums and of course just things that would make these forums stand out from them too, since probably primarily going to be Game Maker users. Which another neat thing is you can more freely discuss other engines without a mod potentially removing or locking your post. Anyway, thanks for reading :) Yeah, both Waffle and I have noticed that the official GMC forum isn't really, well, the friendliest of Internet communities. I suspect that's mainly because it's so enormous and because it's so old - the people who've been using it since 2007 are probably a bit tired of people showing up just to ask why their character gets stuck in a wall - but it is what it is. I think a lot of people prefer smaller communities, too, where it's easier to feel like you fit in.

For whatever reason I thought the Insert Embed button was for inserting html code. Anyway it don't really matter that would have pros and cons anyway. Glad to see this community is a little looser than the GMC, and it being a smaller community will be pretty cool. One more idea though this can wait of course. Is a category based on community projects that we could work on as a whole. I think the GMC has tried this before, though I think it never went anywhere and the themojocollective has done this, though it was a private category for whoever was accepted into the team. Though it looks like they haven't been active in 2016 at all. Anyway, Good luck you guys.

We'll see what happens I suppose. Anyway, Good luck you guys. Hey you're a part of this now too. Good luck to all of us!

Also, speaking as someone who's worked almost exclusively in 3D for the last two years, that does sound fun. :D Fortunately, this was a bit easier to do :3

Cool to see a lot of these things were fixed , Good job guys, GmlWaffle . If there's a way to make it so the hyperlinks are highlighted would be nice, its kind of challenging to make them show up. Oh yeah, in the GMC forums someone made this cool site called GML to BBCode visualizer, a way to get syntax highlighting your post. It has a lot of other neat features too. Here's the link, forum.yoyogames.com/index.php?threads/gml-to-bbcode-vizualizer.6484/#post-46990
