I've been thinking about writing a tutorial on everything I've learned the past two years of networking on GM:Studio. Possibly followed by a video series. Any interest in this?

I've been thinking about writing a tutorial on everything I've learned the past two years of networking on GM:Studio. Possibly followed by a video series. Any interest in this? I think there is a high interest in it, especially since it's been covered so little by tutorial creators. I've also been thinking about doing a series on the subject, however I feel for my subscriber base it's more important to focus on beginner to intermediate level tutorials, whereas this could easily be considered an advanced subject. But if you can create quality tutorials on it, I'd say go for it. It's definitely something I wish there were more tutorials on when I was learning about networking.

I've noticed the tutorials on the subject are way more complicated than it as to be They had me pretty confused when I was first trying to learn. Lol

One thing is that there is a lot of tutorials on this now. I think it be cool to focus on a tutorial that focuses on a framework that could be single or multiplayer, like the yoyogames example, but more friendly to use and understand. I don't think anyone has tried that. Though this probably out of scope but I think it be cool if someone wrote a python script or maybe in php that would act as a server list host, then the clients could be host. Despite the cons of it for an indie game I think it would be cool, heck a lot of tripple games do it as well. I'm not sure how to make it easier for the player to host a game since most people don't know how to port forward, so either just stick to dcp instead of tcp I guess.

One thing is that there is a lot of tutorials on this now. mmm there's a few, but the point to be made about them is their quality. How well was the tutorial made, how well did they describe functions, server connection, etc. and also how long of a tutorial it was. There's really no reason for a tutorial to be made all in one 30-40 minute video. Pick a certain thing to focus on, and accomplish it in 10 minutes. Then in the next part focus on a different part. And so on. So to say that its an issue is definitely not true. The issue is quality. I think that's another reason I have yet to touch the subject in a video.

Opinion: "tutorials" that consist of no narration other than someone typing out words in Notepad should be a flaggable offense on YouTube.
Joking. Anyway, I have little interest in networking, which makes it one of the areas I have zero knowledge of in GM. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, I've always wanted to learn about this, but I've only watched a couple confusing tutorials about it. I have a feeling that you'll be able to make something that is much easier to quickly understand, so I would love it if you did this.
