Nobody likes rules, but unfortunately ya' gotta learn to live with 'em. And follow them.
1. No piracy. End of discussion. This includes both posting pirated material yourself and discussion of where to obtain such content, as well as encouraging piracy in general.
2. Limit the spam. Look, if you want to incessantly post meaningless content there's an entire subforum dedicated to that, but please keep it off the main site. We would like to encourage intelligent discussion here on GML Waffle.
3. Limit the swearing. Currently there is no bad word filter set up because, let's face it, we can all read asterisks, but try to aim for at least one normal word for every swear word, please.
4. No hate speech, no invading peoples' privacy, no harassing or abusing other users. This includes requesting personal information about ("doxxing") someone.
5. Porn, excessively violent and generally Not Safe for Work content is banned. This includes both posting NSFW material directly or linking to it externally. There are plenty of places on the Internet where you can go for this, and GML Waffle is not one of them.
6. Do not post content that is primarily intended to advertise. Among other things, this includes making threads about your YouTube channel. You're allowed to, for example, link your YouTube channel in your signature or a video you made if it's relevant to the conversation, but keep it within reason.
7. You are responsible for your account. If you made your password "password" and your account gets hacked, or if you forgot to sign out while your little brother was at the computer, and someone uses your account and gets in trouble, you will still be held responsible.
8. If you see a problematic situation arise, use the built-in Report button. You may try to defuse the situation yourself, but please do not excessively reprimand the parties in question, point out that they broke the rules, etc (in the golden years of Internet forums this was known as "minimodding").
9. Please do not attempt to hack or otherwise break the web site. To be completely honest this is the other extreme side of Rule #7, but that does not mean there will not be consequences for attempting to hack the web site or another user's account.
10. No malware, viruses or other unwelcome types of destructive software. This is primarily a game design forum, and as such it can be expected that people will be sharing various types of files with each other and we want users to feel confident that any and all files they download will not do harm to their computer.
11. The staff at GML Waffle reserve the right to redact or delete (also popularly known as "censoring") any post that is in violation of the rules.
12. The staff of GML Waffle may change the rules at any time for any reason necessary. Let's be honest, people will do things that we'll never be able to predict from the outset.
13. The consequences of breaking any of these rules is up to the moderator who handles it. In general first offenses will receive a warning and subsequent offenses may result in a temporary forum ban, although some of the more serious offenses (piracy, doxxing, etc.) may result in an immediate forum ban on the first offense.
15. If you do find your account banned, do not attempt to create a second account ("sockpuppet") to circumvent it.
16. On that cheery note, enjoy your stay!
